The constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, sent a strong message this Monday to those who expect the country to relinquish its historical rights. In response to the actions of the United States government, he reaffirmed that territorial integrity is an inalienable right, enshrined in Bolívar’s doctrine:

“We have bad news for those who expect us to renounce our historical rights, our independence, our freedom, and our sovereignty”, exposed the head of state. Territorial integrity, as he explained, is an explicit principle in the Venezuelan Constitution and a foundation of the nation.

On his accounts on social media, the president recalled Article One of the Constitution: “The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is irrevocably free and independent.” He accompanied his message with a short documentary video that highlights the strength of the Constitution, approved by the people in 1999.

“Irrevocably! No one on heaven or earth can revoke it,” Maduro added, emphasizing that this principle is based on the doctrine of Simón Bolívar, the Liberator, and on the values of freedom, equality, and international peace that guide the nation.

The president stressed that these are inalienable rights of all Venezuelans. Addressing those abroad who are promoting military intervention, he reminded them that Venezuela will not relinquish its historical rights nor will it become a colony again, as some would wish.

At the end of his message, the president emphasized that the Constitution of 1999 is a sworn mandate that everyone must uphold to ensure its prevalence. He called for its broad defense with the full power of the Nation, reaffirming the unwavering commitment to the sovereignty and self-determination of the Venezuelan people.
