Venezuela denounced Trump aggression before diplomatic corps

The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, affirmed that the meeting held with the diplomatic corps accredited in the country was very successful, denouncing the threat made by US President Donald Trump, of using the force against the country.

Arreaza asserted that, with these expressions, Trump violates basic principles of international law, and “all letters from any international body of the world”.

From the Yellow House (Seat of the Venezuelan Chancellory), the Foreign Minister reported that Venezuela activated the mechanisms to convene a meeting with Heads of State through the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

He thanked the Governments of the world for their solidarity, which, through communiqués, repudiated President Donald Trump’s statements, including “those that served as a floor for the United States to corner Venezuela and which today have condemned the imperial threat”, in reference to the communiqués by Colombia, Chile and Peru, among others.

The Chancellor called on the Latin American and Caribbean community to protect the region. “We have, and will have differences, there has to be tolerance, and we have to close ranks, not only with Venezuela, but with any country that is attacked with a military operation”, he said.

At the meeting, which was attended by more than 60 diplomats from countries and international organizations, who have representatives in Venezuela, there was even present the US charge d’affaires.
