Constituent Assembly must take actions to combat impunity

The Minister of People’s Power for the Penitentiary Service, Iris Varela, stressed that the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) must take actions in order to combat impunity against the terrorist acts promoted by the ultra-right wing.

During her participation in the “Con Amorin” (With Amorin) program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Varela said: “The opposition has lost its political rights, they have no right to demand anything due to the way they are acting. The Constituent Assembly is justified before the actions of the opposition”, said the pre-candidate to the ANC.

She held responsible to the Prosecutor General, Luisa Ortega Díaz, on the unpunished acts of the last three months caused by seditious squads financed and orchestrated by factors of the extreme right wing.

“Her actions violate human rights. She is distorting the investigations. She has not wanted to see the violent actions of the opposition”, she said.

She affirmed that the constituent process is the way to preserve peace with justice. “Without any doubt the best and only option of peace is the Constituent Assembly. We have to close the doors to fascism”, she emphasized.
