The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela announced that it will file formal denounces with all competent international bodies. The legal action is a response to recent public statements by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, regarding the attack on an oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea.
Through an official communiqué, the Venezuelan Chancellory strongly condemned what it qualified as «a blatant theft and an act of international piracy.» The government document maintains that these actions are part of a deliberate policy of plundering energy resources.
«This is not an isolated incident, but rather the confirmation of a previously announced plan,» as points out the official statement. To this regard it was recalled that during his 2024 election campaign, the US president openly expressed his intention to seize Venezuelan oil without any compensation.
The denounce also includes a reference to the case of the Citgo company, a company classified as a strategic asset of the national patrimony. According to the Venezuelan position, this would be another example of dispossession through «fraudulent judicial mechanisms» carried out outside the bounds of international law.
Likewise, the government communiqué links this situation to what it calls «the resounding failure» of external political initiatives, such as certain events held in Oslo. From the official perspective, these actions seek to distract attention from what is considered the real objective: The control of natural resources.
The Bolivarian Government also called on the international community to reject these actions. It reaffirmed, conclusively, its absolute determination to defend sovereignty, natural resources, and national dignity against any foreign pretense.
Following, the communiqué:
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela: Communiqué
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly denounces and repudiates what constitutes a blatant theft and an act of international piracy, publicly announced by the President of the United States, who confessed to the attack on an oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea. This is not the first time he has admitted it. During his 2024 campaign, he openly stated that his objective has always been to seize Venezuelan oil without paying anything in return, making it clear that the policy of aggression against our country is part of a deliberate plan to plunder our energy resources.
This new criminal act adds to the theft of Citgo, an important asset of the strategic patrimony of all Venezuelans, seized through fraudulent judicial mechanisms and outside the bounds of any legal framework.
Humanity is awakening and fighting against the imperial abuses of the North, as demonstrated by numerous and well-attended protests in various US states and European cities. The Venezuelan people also gave a resounding demonstration in the streets of Venezuela to defend the peace of our country.
In these circumstances, the true reasons for the prolonged aggression against Venezuela have finally been revealed. It is not migration. It is not drug trafficking. It is not democracy. This isn’t about human rights. It has always been about our natural wealth, our oil, our energy, the resources that belong exclusively to the Venezuelan people.
We also denounce this act of piracy as a distraction from and a cover-up of the resounding failure of the political show staged today in Oslo, where the manipulations and lack of results of those who have unsuccessfully attempted for years to carry out a «regime change» operation through violence and in open complicity with Western governments were once again exposed.
Venezuela calls on all Venezuelans to remain steadfast in defense of the homeland and urges the international community to reject this unprecedented, illegal, and vandalistic aggression, which they seek to normalize as a tool of pressure and plunder.
The Bolivarian Government reaffirms that it will appeal to all existing international bodies to denounce this grave international crime and will defend its sovereignty, its natural resources, and its national dignity with absolute determination. Venezuela will not allow any foreign power to attempt to deprive the Venezuelan people of what belongs to them by historical and constitutional right.”
