Venezuela denounces corruption in “humanitarian aid” of the European Union

The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, described the recent announcement by the European Union (EU) to send 14.5 million euros in “humanitarian aid” to Venezuela as a new corruption scheme. The statement was made this Monday in rejection of the European measure:

“As Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, I can state clearly: those 14.5 million euros will not reach Venezuela. They will be, like the previous 149 million, another corrupt operation disguised as solidarity,” declared Chancellor Gil in an emphatic manner.

The head of Venezuelan diplomacy explained the mechanism of these funds, pointing out that they are acquired by intermediaries and supposed non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that profit from international financing. He questioned the transparency of the entire distribution process:

“The truth is simple: not a single euro of those funds reaches our people. The European Union neither develops nor registers any humanitarian projects in Venezuela”, stated Gil, highlighting the lack of concrete and verifiable results from this international aid.

The Chancellor addressed a direct message to European taxpayers, who are suffering budget cuts in essential services such as health, housing, and employment from the Brussels government. He pointed out the contradiction of announcing these funds for Venezuela while simultaneously implementing internal cuts.

Finally, Yván Gil sentenced with an emphatic “Enough of the corruption and false pretexts of the European Union!” reaffirming the Venezuelan State’s position of rejecting these practices, which he considers interventionistic and lacking in real transparency.
