With the goal of boosting the regional economy apparatus, the Regional Economic Observatory was inaugurated in La Guaira state. The new institution will be located at the Catia La Mar terrestrial terminal, from where it will serve as an engine for local development. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by the state’s governor, José Alejandro Terán, who explained that this action is part of the first transformation of the Plan de la Patria (Homeland Plan).
The regional leader emphasized that the project had been in the planning stage for a long time and has now finally reached its concrete implementation: «It is important to note that this space is not only for the Governorship of the state; it was also created to contribute to the entire economic sphere of our region,» pointed out Terán during the inaugural act.
The observatory will function as a fundamental tool for public policy planning. The initiative is part of the La Guaira 2030 Plan and will serve specifically as an advisory body for decision-making in various productive sectors. Among the sectors to be analyzed are agriculture, fishing, tourism, and the local economy, providing key data for their strategic development.
Governor Terán took the opportunity to congratulate the entire team that will be working in this new space. He especially recognized the work of the staff, specialists, lawyers, statisticians, and interns who will be part of the observatory, highlighting their importance to the project’s success.
With this launch, La Guaira state strengthens its capacity for economic planning based on precise data and indicators. The observatory thus becomes a fundamental pillar for the design of effective public policies that promote the region’s sustainable development.
