President Nicolás Maduro reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to strengthening investment in scientific advances in the service of life and sovereign development. This was highlighted during a working session on the progress achieved by the Great Mission Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán for Science, Technology, and Innovation.
From the headquarters of the Ministry of Science in Sartenejas, Miranda state, the president emphasized that the country is directing its efforts in science, technology, and innovation toward human and social development, in contrast to nations that allocate these resources to the manufacturing of weapons:
“Applied science here in Venezuela is for development. We are not making nuclear weapons to bomb anyone, nor nuclear submarines to bomb anyone. Science in Venezuela is for life and for development,” stated the head of state.
He emphasized that the Great Mission Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán for Science, Technology, and Innovation represents a strategic commitment to useful knowledge and sovereign growth, strengthening areas such as basic and applied sciences, humanities, social sciences, and emerging technologies.
He also announced increased investment and the State’s commitment to consolidating national technological capabilities, with special attention to training new generations through the Scientific Seedbed.
«In 10, 15, 20 years, you, who are at the forefront, will have in your laboratories true geniuses of science for life,» expressed President Maduro, addressing the Venezuelan scientific community. This policy reinforces the pacifist and social nature of the nation’s scientific and technological development model, aligned with collective well-being and national sovereignty.
