In the framework of the 80th UN General Assembly, Venezuela expressed its strong support for the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) presented by China. The Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, Tatiana Pugh, reaffirmed this support during her speech at a special forum held in New York.
The Venezuelan delegation, led by Chancellor Yván Gil representing President Nicolás Maduro, is developing an intense diplomatic agenda to strengthen international cooperation. This support for the Chinese initiative is part of Bolivarian foreign policy to promote a multipolar world.
Through his channel on Telegram, Chancellor Gil explained that the Chinese proposal «seeks to renew the international governance system toward a more just, equitable, and multipolar one.» He emphasized that the fundamental objective is for «the Global South to have a significant voice» in the new international order.
«Venezuela reaffirms its strong support for this initiative and urges its prompt implementation to strengthen justice and equality on the world stage,» remarked the Venezuelan Chancellor. This position reflects the diplomatic harmony between Caracas and Beijing.
Recently, president Maduro signed this initiative during the Summit of the Cooperation Organization of Shanghai-China . The proposal encompasses principles such as the sovereign equality of states, the primacy of international law, and multilateralism.
The Global Governance Initiative, promoted by China, represents an alternative to the current international system. Venezuela positions itself as one of its main proponents in Latin America, aligning itself with the vision of a more balanced world order where countries of the Global South may have greater participation.
