Venezuelan Chancellor Yvan Gil met with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gastón Browne, to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The meeting focused on addressing the regional geopolitical situation and the threats that jeopardize the peace and security of its peoples.
During the talks, both authorities discussed in depth the challenges affecting regional stability. Chancellor Gil denounced through his Telegram account the violation of the region’s status as a Zone of Peace, proclaimed by CELAC, and of the Treaty of Tlatelolco, which establishes it as a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
The bilateral agenda also included a review of existing cooperation mechanisms. The promotion of joint initiatives was evaluated, with special attention to the Agro-ALBA project. This program aims to strengthen agricultural production and food security through the People’s Trade Treaty.
Venezuela and Antigua and Barbuda will celebrate the 42nd anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024, established in 1982. This long-standing relationship is developed in various multilateral forums, such as the Commonwealth of Nations, where they actively promote political dialogue and cooperation agreements.
The interaction between the two nations reflects Venezuela’s commitment to Caribbean integration. Venezuela maintains an active presence in the region through strategic alliances based on respect for international law and the pursuit of peace.
This meeting strengthens bilateral ties and underscores the mutual commitment to regional stability. The meeting represents a further step in consolidating a common agenda focused on security and joint development.
