Head of State denounces nuclear threat of the US to Venezuela

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced a serious nuclear threat by the United States against the country and the rest of Latin America. The president asserted that a US nuclear submarine has violated regional peace agreements, generating an alarming escalation of tension.

He specified that this constitutes a clear violation of the Treaty of Tlatelolco. This agreement, fundamental to regional security, expressly prohibits the mobilization, use, and manufacture of nuclear weapons throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, seeking to maintain the region as a territory of peace.

The denounce was made during the reception of the Credentials of new ambassadors. The Venezuelan head of state took advantage of the formal ceremony to alert the world to this situation and highlight the impact of the international solidarity that, according to him, Venezuela is receiving.

In the same context, the president asserted that his country is in a position of victory in defending its sovereignty. He expressed his gratitude for international cooperation and announced the establishment of a joint work agenda with the new diplomatic representations, focused on economic development, trade, and investment.

During his conversations with the ambassadors of Belarus, Cambodia, Ivory Coast, Hungary, and Azerbaijan, Maduro reviewed the history and ties with each nation. He highlighted Belarus’ resilience, his admiration for Southeast Asia, and the connection to «Mother Africa» through Ivory Coast.

With each of the diplomats, the president reiterated Venezuela’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties. He reaffirmed principles such as self-determination, sovereignty, respect, and equality among states as fundamental bases for mutual understanding and Peace Diplomacy.
