Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro criticized the recent accusations and military actions by the United States against his country, arguing that these actions are baseless and damage the credibility of the US government. During an interview on his «Con Maduro+” program, the president affirmed that Venezuela will defend its sovereignty against any threat, just as any nation would protect its territory.
Maduro noted that the current US administration has made contradictory statements, which, in his opinion, reflects a loss of international legitimacy. He referred to an article in the Venezuelan media outlet La Iguana, which denounces an alleged US military deployment in the Caribbean under the pretext of combating drug trafficking, generating global rejection and expressions of solidarity with Venezuela.
The Venezuelan leader compared the situation to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, based on false accusations of weapons of mass destruction, and affirmed that the international community is aware of what he considers the «decline of the US empire.» He also criticized figures such as Marco Rubio, whom he accused of promoting extremist agendas from key positions in the US government, which, according to Maduro, could exacerbate tensions in the region.
Finally, the Venezuelan president affirmed that the world is undergoing a transition toward a multipolar order, in which his country, as it did two centuries ago, plays a leading role in defending the sovereignty of its peoples.
