Within the framework of the 13th Extraordinary Summit of ALBA-TCP held on August 20, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro declared that Latin America and the Caribbean “constitute a territory in permanent dispute between the independence forces of the peoples and the obscurantist forces of the US empire.»
The president made these statements via videoconference during the meeting of heads of state and government of the Bolivarian Alliance.
Maduro emphasized that ALBA-TCP emerged precisely as a response to this historic confrontation, highlighting that the alliance is consolidating itself as a mechanism for regional peace, overcoming inequality and poverty, as well as for cooperation in social, cultural, economic, and environmental areas:
«This Bolivarian Alliance is for the peace of our peoples and for facing common challenges such as the climate emergency,» he affirmed.
The Venezuelan head of state indicated that the extraordinary summit aims to update the ongoing cooperation plans among member countries and analyze the current complex situation on the continent. He emphasized that the bloc maintains an active work agenda to defend sovereignty and promote regional integration in the face of external threats.
