Venezuela rejected this Tuesday the inclusion of our nation on a list of high-risk countries published by the European Union (EU).
In this regard, the National Government issued a communiqué indicating that “what does represent a real risk is the inability of the European Union itself to protect its interests, its economy, and even its dignity.”
The text adds that Venezuela “has faced blockades, sanctions, attempts at isolation, and here we are: stronger, firmer, and without double standards.”
Following, the full text of the communiqué:
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects its inclusion on the ridiculous list of “high-risk” countries published by the European Union. What does represent a real risk is the European Union’s own inability to protect its interests, its economy, and even its dignity.
An anachronistic, aging bureaucracy, disconnected from its people, now seeks to tutor Venezuela, when it cannot even coherently govern its own territory. It has banks laundering money in its own capitals, officials who look the other way, and tax havens that operate with total impunity within its borders or under its protection.
Venezuela, on the contrary, is a growing economy, with political stability and institutions that respond to its people, not to financial interests or lobbies in turn. We have faced blockades, sanctions, and attempts at isolation, and here we are: stronger, firmer, and without double standards.
What bothers the decrepit European elite is not the risk, but the truth: That there are countries in the South that are no longer bowing their heads to them, that do not accept tutelage, and that are unwilling to join the lists of the obedient.”
