Ombudsman Alfredo Ruiz urged all human rights institutions worldwide to take urgent measures to stop the violation of the rights of Venezuelan migrants deported from the United States who are held in a prison in El Salvador.
After meeting with 25 family members of the deportees, Ruiz emphasized the commitment of the Venezuelan Ombudsman’s Office to provide support and assistance to the affected families: «We call on all human rights institutions in all countries to coordinate efforts and ensure that these serious violations cease,» he emphasized.
The Ombudsman stated that the families of the migrants demand the prompt release of the detainees, whom they consider to be illegally detained: «There are 252 families demanding the immediate return of these people,» he stated, urging the Venezuelan society and the international community to join this cause. «Not only the entire nation, but the entire humanity must unite to stop these serious abuses against the human beings,» he added.
Ruiz denounced that the migrants were illegally transported to El Salvador, many under false pretenses, with the false promise that they would return to their country.
In light of this situation, the Ombudsman’s Office reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the rights of those affected and demanding their prompt release.
