Ambassador Moncada reelected as Vice President of UN’s General Assembly

This Monday, the United Nations General Assembly reelected, by acclamation, Ambassador Samuel Moncada as Vice President of the United Nations General Assembly for the 80th session (2025-2026), representing the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC).

The information was released by the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs through the Instagram social network, where it highlighted that «this is the second consecutive time that the Venezuelan diplomat has held this position within the General Assembly, which reaffirms regional support and recognition of Venezuela’s role and active participation in this important multilateral forum, the most representative in the world.»

He also highlighted that the Venezuelan ambassador serves as coordinator of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, and in his first year as vice president of the aforementioned international body, he actively participated in promoting the debates.

Furthermore, Moncada, representing the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, included topics of economic, social, and decolonization scope, as well as important discussions on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on human rights, the right to development, international cooperation and solidarity, respect for sovereignty, multilateralism, and dialogue.
