Venezuela and Russia sign Understanding Memorandum between ZEE

Within the framework of the 16th Russia-Islamic World Economic Forum, the National Superintendency of Special Economic Zones (ZEE) of Venezuela and the Association of Clusters, Technoparks, and ZEE of Russia signed an Understanding Memorandum, with the main objective of expanding bilateral cooperation in the area of ZEE development.

The document was signed in Kazan by the National Superintendent of ZEE, Johann Álvarez, and the director of the Association of ZEE Clusters of Russia, Mikhail Labudin:

Thanks to the close bilateral relations of cooperation and brotherhood promoted by our President Nicolás Maduro at the highest level with the Russian Federation, we continue to make progress in building strategic trade routes between the nations of the Global South,” emphasized Álvarez.

The document provides for the creation of a joint work group that will coordinate projects, promote the localization of production, and the development of interstate industrial clusters.

Thanks to its trade agreements, Venezuela can help ensure that products from Russian investments in the country’s ZEE reach Latin American markets, explained Álvarez, who proposed creating a framework for cooperation between Russian and Venezuelan entrepreneurs:

This is a logical continuation of the work of the Russian International Association in ZEE of the BRICS countries, with the support of our country’s Ministry of Economic Development. I am confident that in the near future we will be able to implement specific joint projects,” said Russian official Mikhail Labudin.
