To consolidate the ties of friendship and cooperation between Venezuela and South Africa, a roadmap was drawn up at the headquarters of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, in Pretoria, for the holding of the First Binational Joint Commission.
In addition to sharing analyses on the respective national situations and international geopolitics, the meeting reviewed the bilateral agenda, agreements under negotiation, and cooperation projects in the areas of energy, culture, education, trade, people’s power, agriculture, fisheries, housing, and sports, among others.
During the meeting between the Deputy Minister for Africa of the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yuri Pimentel, on the Venezuelan side; and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Alvin Botes, for the South African side, the first meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism was held, pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding between the two Chancellories, signed in 2007.
At the end of the meeting, both parties emphasized their commitment to working together to strengthen bilateral relations, with the goal of consolidating a strategic alliance of shared interests.
