At least 180 Venezuelan migrants deported from the United States (US) are returning to the country this Thursday on a direct Honduras-Venezuela flight, as part of the “Vuelta a la Patria” (Return to the Homeland) Plan.
This was announced by Diosdado Cabello, Vice President for Politics, Citizen Security, and Peace, on the «Con el Mazo Dando” (Hitting with the Hammer) program, in which he added that those previously investigated by authorities to rule out criminal records will return.
Cabello emphasized that a single person who qualifies as an Interpol red code will be returning on the flight.
He also said that another group of Venezuelans from the US should arrive on Friday, April 11. Although a new flight from Mexico is being prepared, «there is a limited number of planes, which is an issue.»
The Minister for Interior, Justice, and Peace also recalled what President Nicolás Maduro said, who «gave a very clear order: We will not rest until we bring back all the Venezuelans who are outside our country.»
Denounced mistreatment of migrants in the US:
In this context, the official read a letter from Estefanía Mendoza, a migrant detained at the ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington, USA, who detailed the mistreatment and harassment she has received from US officials.
Cabello emphasized that «the story that they belonged to the Tren de Aragua (Aragua Train) criminal gang is a lie, and if you send a man, then why not send a woman, a child, a family who are being held hostage? This is a demand that our colleague Jorge Rodríguez makes daily to the US authorities.»
He denounced that each Venezuelan detained in the US «generates a dividend of $130 a day, that’s a business. Everything there is privatized, and I assure you that behind all of this are the magnates of Donald Trump’s government.»
