During the activation of the Telecommunications and New Technologies Engine, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, as part of the Movilnet 5G Pilot Plan, made a satellite contact with downtown Caracas in order to show the advances of the Radio Bases and the installation and expansion plan.
In this context, the Head of State gave the floor to Engineer Víctor Martínez, Director of Network Planning, who reported that they currently have 51 stations deployed throughout much of Caracas and the La Guaira state, serving strategic and important sites, such as the Port of La Guaira and the Maiquetía International Airport.
In that regard, he added that the live broadcast was held this Tuesday from a 5G Radio Base in Puente Llaguno (Llaguno Bridge in downtown Caracas), highlighting: «We can proudly say that we are the first mobile company to develop a 5G network in our country.»
He also noted that the speeds achieved through the Radio Bases range from 300 Mbps (megabits) per second to 1G, and that this also creates the possibility of beginning to provide FWA services, which is high-capacity internet that can reach even the most remote places where fiber optics are unavailable.
Furthermore, the President noted that this effort to promote New Technologies has been underway since 2023, as part of the contributions to streaming transmissions and the development of the telecommunications sector to continue driving the growth of the country’s economy.
