CNE starts candidate nomination process for May 25 elections

From April 4th to next Friday, April 11th will be made the process of nominating candidates for the gubernatorial and deputy elections to be held on May 25th, according to the National Electoral Council. Within this time lapse, final nominations must be submitted by April 9th.

According to the schedule established by the CNE, political organizations may create and modify nominations from April 7th to the 8th, and from April 10th to the 11th, the electoral body will review the requirements. Candidates for the elections to the National Assembly, governorships, and state legislative councils will complete their nomination process through the Automated Nomination System (SAP). The corresponding nominations will then be reviewed for acceptance or rejection.

On May 25, regional elections will be held throughout Venezuela for 24 governorships, state legislative councils, and representatives to the National Assembly. The CNE has provided political organizations with a technological mechanism for submitting candidates for governorships, legislative councils, and the National Assembly.

In addition, changes to candidate lists may be made up to ten days before the elections, this is, on May 15.
