Freddy Ñáñez, Vice President for Communications and Culture, asserted this Monday that Venezuela’s extreme right wing specifically asked the US government to send Venezuelans to El Salvador, claiming that returning them would legitimize Nicolás Maduro’s government.
According to Ñáñez, María Corina Machado, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, proposed to the White House to use Venezuelan migrants as cannon fodder, “which prompted Donald Trump to issue a war decree against Venezuela, qualifying it as a threat”.
As reported in recent days, the Nayib Bukele administration is advised by a group of extreme-right wing Venezuelans with influence in the (US) high government.
The Minister of Communication and Information also highlighted that this group “is directly linked to the Voluntad Popular party, with an instruction designed to traffic Venezuelans» and that they exercise key functions behind the ministries: Miguel Sabal is second in command in Logistics, Miguel Arévalo in Health, Tomas Hernández in Economy, Rody Rodríguez oversees Education and Foreign Affairs, Santiago Rosas and Ernesto Herrera direct security and the territorial control plan, Juancarlos Gutiérrez – Transparency and Lester Toledo is in charge of Propaganda and Marketing.
