The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, called on Wednesday for Venezuela to build a new electoral political system that overcomes the old methods of politicking and manipulation.
He stressed that the elections of December 15 «have been an impeccable electoral process, which must lead us to reforms and improvements in political methods in the country.»
In a meeting with the elected communal justices of the peace, in Caracas, he expressed that steps must be taken to consolidate a true, radical democracy that vindicates the human being:
“We should really think, build a new society, build a new electoral political system and overcome the old methods of politicking, lies, demagogy, electoral manipulation and let the common people, the humble, the ordinary people, carry out their campaigns and access the high positions of the Republic,” said the first national leader.
He pointed out that true democracy “is not the farce” that has been imposed in Western countries for more than 100 years and that bourgeois electoral processes are all a farce.
Maduro asked for legislation and to end the use of lies, sowing hatred and violence in the way of doing politics, which “try to seek a civil war in Venezuela.”
Likewise, the head of State stressed that the best conditions exist to transfer all power to the people and build power at the bases.
