The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, installed this Saturday from the Convention Center of the La Carlota Air Base, Miranda state, the 24th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), on the occasion of the 20 years of the founding of the regional bloc by commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro.
The Venezuelan President welcomed the presidents, prime ministers and delegates of the member countries of the Alliance, as well as the representatives of the invited nations (Haiti, Palestine and Honduras).
The Head of State also received the executive secretary of ALBA-TCP, Jorge Arreaza, and members of ALBA Movements, among other social organizations in the region.
ALBA was born on December 14, 2004 in Havana, Cuba, through the signing of a Joint Declaration and the Agreement for the Implementation of ALBA, by Commanders Hugo Chávez Frías, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and Fidel Castro Ruz, President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba.
There are 10 countries that make up the Alliance: Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Dominica, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
