In an emotional speech, the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed his commitment to the construction of a free and sovereign Homeland, and urged the military to never doubt their mission as heirs of the liberators of the Americas:
“We are the embodiment of the immortal spirits of the liberators of the entire Great Homeland of the Americas, and we have the responsibility, in the 21st century, to build the dreams, the great utopia of the egalitarian Republic,” stressed Maduro.
In his remarks during a ceremony for promotions to the Presidential Honor Guard (GHP) and the Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), he emphasized the need “to move towards the greatest possible happiness, the greatest social security and the greatest political stability.»
The President highlighted the historic role of the Honor Guard, created by the Liberator Simón Bolívar in 1815, stating: «We are one of the armed forces founded directly by the Liberator.» He recalled, stressing the importance of his legacy in the defense of the nation.
At the event, the Head of State welcomed the Bolivarian National Militia that is joining the Honor Guard, pointing out that «a perfect popular military fusion» is taking place.
He also instructed Maj. Gen. Javier Marcano Tábata and Maj. Gen. Orlando Romero Bolívar “to work in depth with the militia people, with great force so that our Honor Guard increasingly fulfills the mission that the Homeland has, together with the Military Counterintelligence Directorate, which is none other than to guarantee the right to peace, to stability, to life, the right to democracy, which in the end, is the right to the future and to prosperity.»
