The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a telephone conversation this Friday with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, where he addressed the global political situation, especially that of Venezuela, after the attempts at destabilization and the conspiracies promoted from US territory.
Through his Telegram channel, the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported through an official communiqué that “the national leader has held a friendly and fraternal conversation today (…) after the attempts at destabilization and the conspiracies promoted from US territory, with the complacency of his government, flagrantly violating international law and the United Nations Charter, supported by the Latin American and European far-right extremism, which, fortunately, have been contained and neutralized thanks to the action of Venezuelan democratic institutions.”
The statement indicates that President Maduro has reiterated the content of the letter sent to the Secretary General at his office in recent days, and warned about attempts at external aggression, through the hiring of mercenaries to invade the country and assassination attempts.
For his part, the Secretary General said that the UN has shown itself to be against the application of the policy of regime change anywhere in the world, as well as any action of intervention in internal affairs that affect sovereignty.
It should be noted that both agreed to maintain communication at the highest level between Venezuela and the UN General Secretariat, which must address the great challenges that the organization faces in a global scenario.
