The Minister of People’s Power for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, shared through his account on the X social network account a statement on behalf of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which expresses resounding rejection of the statement issued by the Caribbean Community (Caricom), on May 29, 2024, regarding the border controversy between Venezuela and Guyana.
The subregional organization promoted “the malicious and distorted matrix of presenting Venezuela as an aggressor nation,” as established in the statement published by Minister Ñáñez.
Likewise, the Bolivarian Government regretted the biased position of Caricom, and proceeded to recapitulate the warmongering actions promoted by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, among them, establishing alliances with the United States Southern Command, the ExxonMobil oil company and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), which represent a flagrant violation of the peace agreements signed by Caracas and Georgetown on December 14, 2023, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Consequently, the document concludes that Guyana ceded its sovereignty to the North American country and represents a threat to Venezuelan and South American stability, especially to the Peace Zone established by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).
Finally, Venezuela encourages Georgetown to participate in direct dialogue and be guided by the 1966 Geneva Agreement, the only valid instrument to address the Guayana Esequiba controversy.
