In this eloquent way, through a message published on his social networks, the head of state established the position of the Bolivarian people regarding the medical diagnosis of the first lady of Syria, Asma al Asad, 48 years old, who suffers from acute myeloid leukemia, according to a statement from the Government of President Bashar al-Assad.
The president’s wife will undergo a «specialized treatment protocol» that requires social distancing, the statement added. For this reason, the first lady “will temporarily withdraw from all direct commitments.”
Born in 1975 in the United Kingdom, she worked as an investment executive and presented herself to the public as a defender of progressive rights and, before the civil war caused by the West, she was considered a modern face in the Syrian Government.
