TSJ certifies disqualification of María Corina Machado from exercising public functions for 15 years

The Political-Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) ratified this Friday the disqualification for 15 years of opposition leader María Corina Machado from exercising public functions.

The ruling indicates that the “demand for claim together with precautionary protection” against “the de facto avenues in which the Comptroller General of the Republic has incurred” was declared inadmissible in an official letter issued on June 27, 2023.

The file adds that this disqualification responds to her participation in the corruption plot along with the oppositionist Juan Guaidó to promote a criminal blockade against our country, as well as the dispossession of companies such as Citgo and the surrender of the Monómeros company.

The ruling notes that these acts promoted by Machado have generated “the kidnapping of four billion US dollars held in the international banking system,” while “he has requested the application of sanctions and economic blockade that caused damage to Venezuelan health”.

It adds that Machado failed to comply with the provisions of the Constitution by accepting accreditation as an alternate representative of the delegation of the Republic of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS) as of March 20, 2014, thus losing the investiture of deputy to the National Assembly.

The TSJ indicated that the claim made by the opposition leader “does not comply with the requirements established and demanded in the Barbados Agreement signed on October 17, 2023.”
