Agreements reached in science and technology accelerate the country’s productive transformation

Thanks to the signing of agreements reached at the 17th China-Venezuela Joint High Commission (CMAN), held in Beijing, the Bolivarian Government seeks to promote strategic areas of the Venezuelan economy, such as science, technology and innovation.

In this context, Gabriela Jiménez, sectoral vice president for Science, Technology, Education and Health, explained that the new cooperation agreements will deepen and accelerate the exchange of young scientists in order to strengthen human capabilities in the country.

In this regard, she highlighted that one of the social policies of the Venezuelan State is to guarantee the training of talents in strategic areas such as engineering, physics and mathematics, “but also biotechnology and aerospace engineering, as the most fundamental resource for the productive transformation of the country. looking at our own definition of progress and development.”

She specified that, among the agreements signed on big data is the use of remote sensing satellites for the analysis of the territory, as well as the diagnosis of climatic parameters.

Likewise, she noted that the agreement with the Institute of Research, Oceanography and Satellite Applications will allow the use of satellites in productive, scientific and educational processes.

The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation also pointed out that new technologies will guarantee the training of high-level talents for medical specialties, in addition to the use of new tools to reduce negative diagnoses:

“We are advancing in an agenda that has to do with education, educational exchange (…) mathematical, logical and reading skills and understanding are essential, but of course the science and technology agenda is transversal to all processes and challenges that our young people and our children are going to have to experience,” said Jiménez.

In this sense, she insisted on the need to rethink the Venezuelan educational system and training towards quality, “because this is part of a national scientific agenda (…) science and technology are the engine for the transformation of the country and of course In this deep alliance with China we are based on a science that responds to the interests of the Republic and the Venezuelan people.”
