Venezuela describes as irresponsible and unfounded statements of two Human Rights rapporteurs

Venezuela rejects the irresponsible statements made by the Special Rapporteurs on the promotion and protection of Human Rights, regarding the alleged use of anti-terrorist laws in the country to convict trade union leaders”, disclosed the head of the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, when publishing an Official Communiqué, in which he evidences a new attempt of attack that is being implemented from the US with criminal and illegal unilateral coercive measures.

The Chancellor, through his account @yvangil, made it clear that the Bolivarian Government denounces these statements that are totally unfounded and that they were issued without any prior consultation or request for information from the Venezuelan State about the alleged facts:

“Thus, flagrantly violating the norms and principles that govern the performance of these United Nations mandates, and constituting a new episode of the multiform aggression strategy that is permanently developed against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela directed from the United States, the main violator of human rights through the imposition of illegal unilateral coercive measures”, expresses part of the text.

Previously, the Public Ministry of Venezuela refuted these statements and explained the proofs and evidence that exists against the individuals convicted by the Venezuelan justice system and who are trying to be misrepresented by these two rapporteurs.

Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Communiqué:

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the irresponsible statements made today, through a statement signed by the Special Rapporteurs on the promotion and protection of human rights in the fight against terrorism, and on the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association, regarding the alleged use of anti-terrorism laws in the country to convict union leaders.

Such unfounded statements were issued without having submitted any prior consultation or request for information to the Venezuelan State regarding the alleged facts, thus flagrantly violating the norms and principles that govern the performance of these United Nations mandates, and constituting a new episode of the strategy of multiform aggression that is permanently carried out against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela directed from the United States, the main violator of human rights through the imposition of illegal unilateral coercive measures.

The Venezuelan State reiterates its strict adherence to legality, under the principle of the separation of Public Powers, as well as its scrupulous respect for human dignity, especially in the administration of justice. Its institutions guarantee the full exercise of civil and political rights to all citizens, in accordance with the constitutionally enshrined freedoms and international human rights treaties.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela finally ratifies its inescapable commitment to human rights in the terms established in the Venezuelan Constitution and international treaties validly signed and ratified by the Republic, as well as its commitment to continue cooperating, through dialogue and genuine cooperation, with the Human Rights Council, its mechanisms and other organs of the United Nations system.”
