Maduro: We are prepared to give the struggles for the peoples of the world

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, gave closure this Friday to the World Congress for the Democracy of the Peoples, an initiative from which must emerge the genuine expression of the peoples to defend the region.

From Miraflores Palace, in a teleconference with the participation of leaders and participants of the Congress in brotherly countries, the Venezuelan head of state affirmed that: “In here we do not seek to persecute anyone, we seek to defend democracy and love for the people, for the Homeland that has given us so much”.

“We are not afraid of any hegemon in this world, and we are prepared to fight any battles that have to be fought”, said the national leader.

Accompanied in the presidential office by the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, and the secretary general of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our Americas – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, Maduro highlighted the importance of the Latin American union that is consolidated in these Congresses.

In his speech, the national president highlighted the historic journey led by the Venezuelan people on November 21, in defense of democracy.

Likewise, he celebrated the victory of Xiomara Castro, the new president of Honduras, as well as that of the Bolivian people after retaking power, against the relentless destabilization campaign orchestrated against them.

In this sense, the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected the colonialism that is intended to be imposed on the peoples of the region: “We do not believe in the division of the world, we believe in a multipolar world, without hegemony”, he stressed.

In this regard, he rejected the intention to divide the world into good and bad, and warned against the attempt of the hegemonic centers of the north that intend to impose “a new cold war”:

“They want to divide us, between allies of the empire and free and independent countries, a new cold war is intended (but) from Venezuela we believe in a new humanity and the 21st century is our century, the century without empires and without any hegemonies”, he said.
