Venezuela will send humanitarian supplies to cooperate in the evacuation and preventive relocation of people in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, reported that in the next few hours Venezuela will send humanitarian supplies and risk experts to cooperate in evacuation and preventive relocation of citizens in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Through his account on the Twitter social network, @jaarreaza, the Chancellor explained that the member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) are on alert to coordinate the necessary support for the brother people.

This after the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, issued a disaster alert due to the increase in activity of the Sufriere volcano, which has left a series of tremors at the beginning of the day.

The authority reported that the necessary measures are being taken and have alerted nearby residents to be prepared to evacuate in the short term, if necessary. Geologist Richard Robertson specified that at 03:00 local time today, the monitoring stations reported seismic activity, local media reported.

He detailed that there were long-duration earthquakes, which indicates that fresh magma is trying to reach the surface, and this may mean that the volcano may go into an explosive phase.

For its part, the Belmont Observatory, led by scientists from the University of the East Indies (SRC) Seismic Research Center, keeps seismic activity monitored.
