President Maduro commemorates International Women’s Day

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, commemorates International Women’s Day this Monday, March 8, with virtual and online activities to respect biosafety measures within the 7 + 7 week of Safe Radical and volunteer Quarantine against the coronavirus pandemic in Venezuela.

From the House of Teresa de la Parra, the Head of State greeted all the women of Venezuela and the world, accompanied by his wife, Deputy of the AN and first combatant, Cilia Flores; the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, A / J Carmen Meléndez and the Minister of Women, Carolys Pérez, among other cabinet officials and, in addition, of community and People’s Power leaders.

“Together with Venezuelan women and the world, we come here to commemorate and celebrate International Women’s Day,” said the National President, highlighting the presence of the spirit of the lady of Caracas, Teresa de la Parra, in whose 19th century house is maintained the architecture of the Caracas of yesteryear.

In the colonial installation, he toured an exhibition on the life and work of the writer, author of “Ifigenia”, her most awarded book. Documents, handwritten manuscripts, as well as some thoughts dedicated to women, were in the exhibition room.

“What is that called? Feminism of the beginning of the century, intuitive feminism” he sentenced, regarding the legacy of Teresa de la Parra.

In addition, on the site there was a sample of rag dolls that exemplified the lives of prominent Venezuelan heroines in history.

The Head of State congratulated Minister Meléndez for the total restoration of the Caracas old house, where the people will be able to enjoy exhibitions, cultural activities and agendas that celebrate the worth of Venezuelan women.

The objective of Socialism is to emancipate women, in a comprehensive manner, guarantee their rights and give them protection, love and end violence in all its forms. That is our goal, our feminist project”, he declared.

The activity takes place in a blended manner, with prominent women ministers, vice ministers and authorities from various areas, and a connection in video-conferences with the Women’s sector of the Bicentennial Congress of the Peoples.
