President Maduro urges MP to resume investigations of the massacre of FEB-27 1989

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, urged the Attorney General, Tarek William Saab to resume the investigations corresponding to the massacre of February 27, 1989.

“I call on the Prosecutor to dust off the cases of February 27, 89, so that full justice is done on the historical events of February 27 and 28.”

In this sense, the National Chief Executive made this call, on the 32nd anniversary of the date, in which the people of Venezuela rebelled against neo-liberalism and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“It was the day of the breaking of the political and ideological ties that puntofijismo had established from populism against the people of Venezuela for three decades,” he stressed.

Likewise, the Head of State emphasized that “We cannot stop feeling indignation, pain, because we were there and we are survivors of the times of massacre and repression of puntofijismo and the oligarchic, bourgeois, surrender republic.” As well as he stressed that “justice will always be those that heal the wounds that remain in the soul of so much pain for a people, who did not deserve a massacre like that.”

Finally, Maduro recalled that the so-called Caracazo “was the rebellion of the poor of Venezuela against the IMF, against neo-liberalism. A spontaneous, original, deep rebellion, a collective cry of Enough is enough! Enough of two centuries of betrayal, misery, oppression and surrender of the wealth of the Nation to the empires of the world ”.
