President Maduro reaffirmed brotherhood ties with Iran

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held on Thursday a meeting with the Chancellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in which they review the broad cooperation agenda they maintain in strategic sectors, and agreed to continue deepening the relations of brotherhood at the highest level.

From the “La Casona Aquiles Nazoa” Cultural Complex, in Caracas, the Head of State welcomed the illustrious diplomatic visitor who arrived in Venezuela on an official tour that will take him to Bolivia, where he will attend the inauguration of President-elect Luis Arce, who was former minister of President Evo Morales and who triumphed overwhelmingly before the elections that tried to be manipulated by the Janine Áñez dictatorship.

Members of the Executive Cabinet, official delegation and diplomatic staff from the Embassy of Iran in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela were present. Likewise, the official delegation that accompanied the senior international visitor.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Iran were officially established on August 9, 1950, and remained friendly and cordial, in the context of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) where both countries are historical founders.

During the government of Commander Chávez, the ties of cooperation and complementarity were revitalized. In the management of President Maduro and in the face of the so-called “sanctions” of the US empire, bilateral relations were further consecrated, rising to an alliance of brotherhood.

At the time of the Bolivarian Revolution, the Persian nation defied US attacks by selling and shipping fuel to Venezuela. Thus, the meeting in Caracas promotes the development of a multicentre and pluripolar world without imperial domination and with respect for the self-determination of the peoples.

In the delegation of the Chancellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran are the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Venezuela, Hojattollah Soltani; the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mahdi Hamzehei, and the Director General of America, Reza Nazar Ahary, among others.
