21,000 tons of marine proteins are destined to social programs

To date, more than 21,000 tons of marine proteins are destined, in coordination with artisanal fishermen, to the different social care plans.

Compared to the same period in 2019, an increase of more than 525% was registered, as reported the Minister of People’s Power for Alimentation, Carlos Leal Tellería.

“Last year about this date we had only started with 4,000 tons, that is 4% of the entire protein plan, today on the same date we include 21,000”, he said.

This was stated during a satellite contact with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, broadcast on the Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) TV station.

Earlier, Maduro authorized the exhibition of 62 tons of seafood including baldric, octopus, lobster tail, snapper and others.

The Minister of People’s Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Laya, pointed out that these actions are part of an agreement with the M.J.M Corporation, located in the Plaza municipality of Miranda state.
