Minister Padrino López: Venezuela always stood up against imperialism

The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, emphasized this Wednesday that the history of Venezuela shows the struggle of the South American nation against the imperial axes that seek to dominate the peoples:

«It is in our genesis. In the Act of Independence, it speaks of natural dignity, of recovering the original dignity, those that allow us to stand firm against imperialism, to tell it that we have the right”, said the Minister for Defense during an online forum called “Bolivarian Doctrine vs Imperial Doctrine”.

Padrino López pointed out that the anti-imperialist struggle was evident 200 years ago, when the Liberator Simón Bolívar, accompanied by revolutionary men and women, battled against the Spanish empire:

We have an anti-imperialist genesis. When we speak of Bolivarianism. We are talking about anti-imperialism, because it was Bolívar who defended and fought against the Spanish empire”, he stressed.

In this sense, the head of the Ministry for Defense portfolio emphasized that with Commander Hugo Chávez, since he came into power in 1999, he proposed to build a new social order, where the interests of the people were centered, an action that would not it suited the imperial axes.

The call made by Commander Chávez, to invoke the people, so that a new Constitution be given, and in that constitution a new model be given, a different model of democracy, participatory, authentic, popular, one that did not suit the interests of the American imperialism, nor any other empires either. A new, democratic social order. This model does not suit the United States (USA) and from there a permanent aggression was unleashed on Venezuela”, he said.

In this regard, he made reference to the coup d’état perpetrated by the right wing – and with the support of the United States – in 2002, executed against Commander Chávez, as well as the coercive measures and attacks that have been carried out after the physical loss of the also leader of the Bolivarian Revolution.

He pointed out that part of the aggressions is the attempt to impose on the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), to recognize a representative of the right wing as the “president in charge”, without being elected by popular vote, as well as to carry out a coup d’ etat against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reelected in May 2018 with more than 87% of the votes.

We have faced threats that have turned into attacks. We have been asked to acknowledge a man (Juan Guaidó) who has not been elected by the people as president. (We have been asked) to acknowledge someone that the North American empire wants to put by force. For us to conspire, for us to give coups d’état”, he sentenced.
