Venezuela raises Covid-19 positive cases to 7,693 and 71 deaths

Venezuela registers 7,693 positive cases for Covid-19 coronavirus as for Tuesday, after confirming 282 new infected by the outbreak, reported the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez.

In a telephone contact to Venezolana de Televisión, Minister Rodríguez explained that 239 cases correspond to community transmission, and 43 cases are imported.

In reference to community transmission cases, Rodríguez explained that 121 infected are in Sucre state, 41 in Zulia and 24 in Miranda states.

Similarly, were registered 14 cases in the Capital District.

These cases, as explained Rodríguez, are deployed in the parishes of El Valle (3), Coche (3), Altagracia (1), Caricuao (1), El Recreo (1), San Juan (1), Catedral (1), Antímano (1), Macarao (1) and San José (1).

Cases were also detected in Yaracuy (13); Carabobo (7), Anzoátegui (5), Lara (5), Mérida (3), Portuguesa (2), Barinas (1) and in La Guaira states (1).

In reference to imported cases, Rodríguez indicated that 35 cases come from Colombia, four infected are compatriots from Peru, two from Brazil and two from Ecuador.

So far, Venezuela has 5,522 positive cases, 4,766 are in hospitals, 684 in Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI) and 72 in private clinics.

Of the active cases, 4,997 patients are asymptomatic, 501 have mild respiratory failure, six moderate severe insufficiency and 18 are in critical condition admitted to intensive care units.

Likewise, the death toll by coronavirus rises to 71 after announcing three new deaths due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Of these three deceased, two were registered in the Capital District and one in Zulia state.

One of the cases, Rodríguez explained, is a 40-year-old man from the Capital District, a firefighter by profession. The minister indicated that this patient did not go to a health center, and when he presented symptoms, he self-medicated.

“He had a cardiac arrest that caused his death”, he stressed.

The second deceased is an 82-year-old man, also from the Capital District, who had a pre-existing disease.

The deceased in Zulia is also a man with pre-existing diseases.

In this regard, the head of the Ministry for Communication and Information urged the population to comply with bio-safety regulations to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
