Venezuela increases Covid-19 positive cases to 3,150 and 27 deaths

Venezuela confirmed on Tuesday 88 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, bringing the number of those infected by the outbreak to 3,150, as reported the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
From the Miraflores Palace, he detailed 47 of those cases are a product of community transmission, and 41 are imported cases.

He explained that, of the cases of community transmission, 41 correspond to Zulia state, as a result of the contagion focus of the Las Pulgas Market.

“This kind of contagion is very aggressive, it takes the lungs, it attacks hard, and brings the patient down, and it has killed eight of our compatriots from Zulia”, said the Venezuelan president during a health journey.

Similarly, were registered cases in Nueva Esparta (1), Capital District (1), Bolívar (2), Lara (1) and Miranda states (1).

Regarding the imported cases, President Nicolás Maduro indicated that they are Venezuelans arriving from Colombia and Brazil.

“80% of the cases in Venezuela are imported. Venezuela is the only country that is receiving thousands of compatriots coming from Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Chile”, emphasized the Venezuelan president.

It is noteworthy that, given the accelerated increase of imported cases; Venezuela has decreed a curfew in the border municipalities; as well as installing an epidemiological fence on the border to attend those nationals who have entered the country and who are fleeing from xenophobia and the health crisis caused by the pandemic.

Similarly, it was ordered to all Venezuelans entering the country to carry out the mandatory quarantine for a period of 14 days at border crossings.

On the other hand, the Venezuelan president announced a new decease by coronavirus, bringing the number of fatalities to 27. The patient who died was a resident of the Caricuao parish, in the Capital District.

The patient had a history of chronic pulmonary obstruction.
