The Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, confirmed this Thursday four new coronavirus (Covid-19) cases, registering 171 infected by the outbreak.

In statements broadcast by the Venezolana de Televisión TV station, Rodríguez indicated that the cases correspond to three women and one man, residing in Nueva Esparta, Aragua, Portuguesa and Trujillo states.

The first case, as Rodríguez explained, is a 72-year-old woman from Nueva Esparta state, with a history of contact with employees of the Maneiro Mayor’s office of the Neo-Spartan entity.

The second case is a 25-year-old girl, resident of the Colonia Tovar town, in Aragua state, who has a history of traveling to Ecuador and Colombia, and who entered the country through San Antonio del Táchira, resulting positive for Covid-19, through a test performed this Thursday.

The third case is about a 49-year-old female, resident of Portuguesa state, who traveled from Colombia and who entered the country via a trail, and who presented symptoms of fever, “And thus she was contacted through mass screening and today was positive in the PCR test”, said Rodríguez.

The fourth case corresponds to a 13-year-old adolescent, resident of Trujillo state, infected by a relative with a travel history who tested positive for Covid-19.
