Maduro: Stability and recovery of oil prices will depend on OPEC + agreements

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized on Tuesday that the stability and recovery of oil prices will depend on the agreements that are consolidated in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries-Plus (Opep +), which will be carried out this Thursday.

In a telephone contact with the Presidential Commission for the Prevention of Covid-19, the head of state saluted the videoconference and said he was optimistic about the meeting to be held on April 9, in order to agree on fair prices and thus be able to recover the oil market, affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which affects more than 1.4 million people worldwide.

“I am optimistic with the videoconference and with OPEC + agreements that may restore the stability of the oil market, and restore financial stability in the world”, said the National President during the telephone contact.

In this sense, he announced that he has maintained contacts with the governments of Russia and Saudi Arabia, in order to present key proposals that allow a negotiation in accordance with the stability of the oil market, which has reached minimum prices that were not seen since the early 2000s.

«We are on the right track, there are new criteria. I have insisted a lot on that we have to have a great negotiating capacity, flexibility, to put key proposals on the table. From Venezuela, stability and future recovery depends on the OPEC + agreements. The stability of the oil market depends on it”, he stressed.
