Venezuela rejects interference statements by Josep Borrell and Michelle Bachelet

Venezuela rejects the interventionist statements of the representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, regarding the operation of institutions in the country.
Through a statement, released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Government rejects these accusations because they consider that they constitute interference in internal affairs of the Venezuelan State, as well as represent an attack against the stability and democracy of the nation:
«The institutions of the Venezuelan State will not cease their efforts to protect their people from political aggressions planned and financed from abroad, by neutralizing, through the appropriate and timely application of constitutional and legal provisions, any new attempt to propitiate coups and events of political violence in the country”, says the text.
He also urges diplomats to deal with truly important issues that occur in the region “such as political prosecution against President Evo Morales, repression and the obvious violations of human rights that occur almost daily both in Bolivia, as in Chile and Colombia”, remarks the document.
Following, the full text of the communiqué:
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statements of both the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, regarding the operation of Venezuelan institutions.
The obsession that both international instances denote with respect to Venezuela, reflects an unprecedented bias and an obvious lack of diplomatic and professional rigor. Through interference positions such as those exposed, these organizations intend to interfere in the processes that advances the Venezuelan justice system to safeguard democratic institutions and social peace.
Additionally, the political opinions they advance constitute unacceptable interferences in internal affairs of a sovereign State, represent a call to disobey the laws and norms of the Venezuelan legal system and finally translate into underground support for violent political actors that have attempted against stability and Venezuelan democracy throughout 2019.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela urges the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, to deal with serious events that occur in the region, such as political prosecution against President Evo Morales, the repression and obvious violations of human rights that occur almost daily both in Bolivia as in Chile and Colombia.
The institutions of the Venezuelan State will not cease in their efforts to protect their people from political aggressions planned and financed from abroad, by neutralizing, by means of the adequate and timely application of the constitutional and legal provisions, any new attempt to propitiate coups and events of political violence in the country”.
