Venezuela will defend the property and riches of Citgo in US courts

Venezuela will defend before US courts the property and riches of CITGO, the subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela on US soil, after the issuing by the US Department of State of new sanctions, unilateral and outside international law, as informed on Monday the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
From Miraflores Palace, the national leader repudiated these new sanctions that are outside the United Nations system, and described them as “illegal, unilateral, immoral and criminal”:
“The United States has decided to go the way of stealing CITGO company from Venezuela and it is an illegal road. I have already given precise instructions to the president of PDVSA and owner of CITGO, to initiate the political, legal actions before US and world courts to defend the property and wealth of CITGO”, he said.
Maduro said that the objective of these actions by the US government is to appropriate the Venezuelan natural resources and its territory.
He blamed the deputy of the National Assembly in contempt and legal nullity, and “self-proclaimed as president,” Juan Guaidó, for promoting these new sanctions against Venezuela.
He said that the Bolivarian Government, together with PDVSA, will take the pertinent actions to defend the interests of Venezuela.
He also recalled that thanks to CITGO, have been attended more than two million people in the United States, who have suffered natural disasters.
The president added that before these new attacks, in Venezuela a new historical, patriotic and nationalist conscience is growing, to reject interventionism and demand respect for Venezuela.
