Balance: 17,302 schools attended by the “Health goes to school” program

During this year, 17,302 educational establishments throughout the country have been attended through the “Health goes to school” program, a service plan promoted by the Ministry of People’s Power for Education.

The information was offered by the sectoral vice-president for the Development of Social and Territorial Socialism, Aristóbulo Istúriz, during the “Dando y Dando-Radio” (Taking and Giving-Radio) program, broadcast by RNV’s Informative channel.

This health program, permanent throughout the school calendar, includes general medical check-up, measurement of height and weight, oral hygiene consultations and ophthalmological exams, he recalled, while highlighting that vaccination coverage has been achieved in 82% of the educational establishments.

“Health goes to school” has deployed teams of vaccinators in the initial, basic and middle levels of the national education system, achieving an attention of 85% of the population in the case of diphtheria, with a decrease of 97% compared to the same period of the year 2017; 83% care for measles, reaching a decrease of 98%; and 48% reduction of malaria cases.

Istúriz also highlighted the attendance of 617,380 students through the “SAIME goes to the School” program.
