Chancellor held meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, met with the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations (UN), Michelle Bachelet, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Arreza, who made an intervention within the framework of the 39th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, denounced and demanded to stop the aggression of the United States Government, the European Union and its allies against the Homeland of Bolívar.

From Geneva, Switzerland, the Chancellor made reference to the report by the independent expert of the UN, Alfred de Zayas, in which he points out that in Venezuela there is no humanitarian crisis, but that there is an economic crisis mainly caused by unilateral coercive measures of sanctions, both from the United States and from the European Union.

Arreaza stressed that Venezuela once again ratifies its commitment to the universal Human Rights system:

“We ratify our desire for cooperation, both with the office of the high commissioner for human rights, and our leading role in this Human Rights Council”, he said.
