Venezuela reiterates willingness to a productive dialogue with Spain and other members of the EU

The Venezuelan Government reaffirmed on Monday its willingness to hold a fruitful and productive dialogue with Spain and the rest of the nations of the European Union (EU), on the basis of mutual respect.

This position is expressed in a statement issued on Monday by the national executive, on the occasion of the meeting held by the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jorge Arreaza, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, Josep Borrell Fontelles, in order to exchange ideas around cooperative relations.

The meeting was held in Brussels, Belgium, where is taking place the 2nd Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU).

Today, in the framework of the Meeting of CELAC – EU Ministers, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, has held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, Josep Borrell.

The meeting was held in a framework of fraternity and mutual respect, and relevant aspects of the cooperation between both nations have been reviewed.

Minister Arreaza has highlighted the Bolivarian Government’s desire to maintain a fruitful and productive dialogue with Spain and the European Union, framed in respect. Likewise, aspects of bi-regional integration between CELAC and the EU have been reviewed.

The development of political events in both countries and the consolidation of democratic processes were discussed at length.

Finally, both ministers committed to continue working to improve relations between Spain and Venezuela through a common work agenda that prioritizes the interests of both Peoples.
