Delegation of the ANC met in Geneva with UN expert

A delegation from the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), headed by its second vice president, Elvis Amoroso, held a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, with the expert from the United Nations (UN) for Venezuela, Alfred De Zayas, who indicated that the lack of medicines and food in the country, is due to the economic war and the financial blockade.

“Dr. Alfred De Zayas visited Venezuela and met with all sectors of both opposition and followers of the revolution and verified that the situation of medicines and food is due to the brutal blockade and the economic war that Venezuelans are experiencing”, expressed the constituent.

He added that De Zayas will present in the next few days a final report to the UN about the situation that Venezuelans are living due to the blockade.

Amoroso also stressed the effort made by the Government of President Nicolás Maduro to make the world aware of the true situation in Venezuela and not the distorted information disseminated by some sectors of the extreme right wing.

For his part, De Zayas said that due to international sanctions, which he described as “crimes against humanity,” the siege against the Venezuelan people has worsened.

“The criminal and financial blockade that Venezuela is experiencing is similar to the blockade that Cuba has lived through for 60 years and these sanctions have generated a crisis and a shortage of medicines and food, which is besieging the Venezuelan population”, said the expert from the UN

During the meeting were also present Darío Vivas, president of the Citizen Participation Commission of the ANC, and Jorge Valero, ambassador of Venezuela to the Human Rights Council of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
