In the regional elections of last October 15, in which more than 10 million Venezuelans participated and in which Chavismo managed to impose itself in 18 of the 23 governorates of the country, once again the people ratified its democratic mood and bet again by peace.

This was held on Wednesday by the Governor-elect of Lara state, Carmen Melendez. “The victory we had on October 15 is very important for the country and for the people. Democracy won, peace won”, she said from the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), before which were sworn in the Governors of the revolutionary forces.

She said that with its vote, the people of Lara state gave a strong response to the plan of violence promoted by the extreme right wing in Venezuela since the beginning of the year. This western entity ranked second in the national level with more deaths and terrorist actions.

Therefore, the new Governor ratified her commitment to work for the interests of the people and for the development of the state: “We will accompany all the people in their needs and in their priorities and in their projects.”

“We are going to start a new phase: the rebirth,” said Melendez.

She recalled that her 2017-2021 Government plan, in addition to contemplating the regionalization of the Homeland Plan, includes the proposals, approaches and requirements presented by the population.

“Hope returned to Lara state and I will not disappoint the people,” she said, after stressing that “All men and women united we will all be working, rebuilding what hatred destroyed.”
