Ilenia Medina: Any Governor who is not sworn before the ANC would be resigning

The Governors-elect in the elections held last October 15 will be sworn in before the National Constituent Assembly, otherwise it would be considered a resignation, said Ilenia Medina, deputy to the National Assembly for the Great Patriotic Pole and general secretary of organization of the PPT party.

“The Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela states when there is absolute absence … if they do not attend, it will be taken as a resignation and new elections should be called or either the legislative councils of those states will decide what to do.”

During an interview on a private television channel, she recalled that the country is currently under a special regime, and all institutions and authorities must be subordinate to the ANC. These candidates could hardly disown this supra-constitutional power after having participated in the electoral process convened by the ANC itself, she added.

Regarding the victory of the revolutionary forces, the political leader assured that: “This is the result of a people that wants peace … It is a response to the chavismo that has always behaved as an option.”

As for the results in Miranda, Lara and Amazonas, she pointed out that this triumph is the result of the extraordinary work of the organizations grouped in the Great Patriotic Pole. In the case of Táchira, Anzoátegui, Zulia and Nueva Esparta states, she indicated that a deep review of what happened to advance in the recovery of these spaces should be done.
