The revolutionary forces obtained victory in 17 states in the regional elections on Sunday, October 15, the National Electoral Council (CNE) reported in its first bulletin, with a broadcast of 95.8% of the votes and a 61.14% of participation.

The proposal presented by opposition parties, grouped in the self-called Board of Democratic Unity (MUD), got 5 of the Governorates.

The President of the CNE, Tibisay Lucena, indicated that in the case of Bolivar state the trend is not yet irreversible.

She also highlighted the level of participation and citizenship of the citizens throughout the country, as well as coordination between the State Powers and the functioning of the electoral system for the development of this process.

At a press conference from the National Electoral Council in central Caracas, he celebrated the high participation of Venezuelans, whom he described as “worthy representatives of this country that is exercising our sovereignty as it should be: in peace, in tranquility and democracy through the vote. To all the electors: Congratulations. We had a great turnout”.

The representatives of the forces of the Bolivarian Revolution that obtained the victory in the elections of governors are: Miguel Rodriguez, in Amazonas; Ramón Carrizalez, in Apure; Rodolfo Marco Torres, in Aragua; Argenis Chávez, in Barinas; Rafael Lacava, in Carabobo; Margaud Godoy, in Cojedes; Lizeta Hernández, in Delta Amacuro; Victor Clark, in Falcón; José Vásquez, in Guárico; Carmen Meléndez, in Lara; Hector Rodríguez, in Miranda; Yelitza Santaella, in Monagas; Rafael Calles, in Portuguesa; Edwin Rojas, in Sucre; Henry Rangel, Silva in Trujillo; Jorge Luis García Carneiro, in Vargas and Julio León Heredia, in Yaracuy.

The opposition candidates who won governorates are: Antonio Barreto (Anzoátegui), Ramón Guevara (Mérida), Alfredo Díaz (Nueva Esparta), Laidy Gómez (Táchira), all of them belonging to the Acción Democrática (AD) (rightwing) party, and Juan Pablo Guanipa (Zulia) of the Primero Justicia (rightwing) party.

After knowing the results, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, emphasized from Miraflores Palace the blunt victory of the Bolivarian Revolution.

“Chavismo is alive, is in the streets and is triumphing. That is the truth and here we stand”, said the National President. “What this Homeland wants is, with all its love, to build itself in peace, with all its independence”, he said in a broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.

For these regional elections were summoned 18,094,065 voters in the 23 states of the country. This process did not include the Capital District, (because it has a different Government scheme), nor voters abroad, because it is not a national process.

The National Electoral Council authorized 13,559 polling stations, where 30,274 polling stations were installed, while the Republic Plan deployed 260,000 members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), state and municipal police officers, the Corps of Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC), Firemen and Civil Protection.
